does anyone know of a file sharing program that can be used with jaws 8 if there is. please let me know. i'm thinking about getting jaws 8. right now i got jaws 7. and bearshare works with it but if there is any thing for jaws 8 tell me. thanks
There's always BitTorrent. Don't know which client is most accessible with Jaws though, but since BearShare and Soulseek don't work well for me, I use BitTorrent.
the scripts taht work for jaws 7 work with 8 so you should be fine. i'd stay with what you have and give it a try.
a friend of mine told me they have been using jfw 8 and bearshare--problem? jfw won't read the lists, it will beep instead. I also want to konw... anything faster than bearshare? i have been having download that are 5 months old sitting there... and pressumably, i believe this shouldn't happen. i know it all depends on network activity and stuff, but I don't think it takes 5 months to get a 5 mb file... also, if any "newer" programs, which ones are more comonly used? geez, i believe i need an introduction to torrent
i like using soul seek, it is a good programme. the only downside, is that sometimes it takes you ages just to find what you are looking for, and even then, it could take days to download
Use Blubster, its fast if you have a good connection, also works for Dial-up users too. But the only downside is that you have to use the JAWS cursor to get to certain stuff. It isn't that accessible. If you want something accessible, use torrents or something. It took me a while to figure out how to use the program. The URL to download it is www.blubster.com. Note: When you install it, it will ask you to install a tool bar. I think its called like Dealio, don't install it, because if you do, it will crash IE.

I've used EMule Plus which is scripted for jaws, dc++ same, and UTorrent. I used to use WinMX, though its been a while.
For DC++, I'd recommend either dc++ 0.307 if you don't want to have tigertree hashing which is where dc++ hashes all of your files, this'll take a while and is optional, or 0.401, if you want to have Tigertree Hashing enabled since with anything newer, the jaws scripts that I've got don't work with it, thing about DC++ is you've got to share, and be online 24 7 or, close to that. When I used to use it, I shared about 90+ gigs of stuff, and most of the hubs that I connected to had a minimum shared limit of 80 gigs to get in. You can't use dc++ on dialup, you've got to have at min 128 kb/sec upload, and for that you've got to have at least 2 open slots per hub which means that you'd be giving each person between 4-8 kb/sec of upload, the more upload bandwidth you have, the better.
I use the old version of ares which seems to be mroe accessible with jaws although you have to use the jaws cursor. Also, I need the old version of dc++ and the jaws scripts, does anyone know where to get them? Thanks!
urigs, I've got them both, give me an e-mail addy where to send them to, or add me to either msn or aim, that way we can chat, if you want.
Bearshare isgood. Bit comet is good, and bit torrent. However, I hope that you scan all them fles once they getthrough your filesharing program. Might be why Bearshare is taking 5 months to download anything.
aresgalaxy.org is very good.
